i just bought a mod chip on ebay for my 03 taco and im in quandary as to where these sensors are as they are needed for proper installation of the mod chip. if a combination mass air/ iat sensor is used (which it is) it is said to use the engine coolant thermostate sensor. i looked all through the manual and all over the engine and still cannot find the 2wire thermostate sensor. and yes it sais it has to be a 2 wire. i looked up the scematics for the combo mass air sensor and found which wires are being used for the iat sensors and was thinking about trying to clip onto those wires, but am a little cautious. what can i do. i need to find this engine coolant sensor! arggh!

ok all so this is what i did. i went ahead and hooked up the 30$ ebay special chip to the wires that controll the iat sensors, and surprise not a whole lot of difference. i hope it doesnt screw up my engine. keep ya posted probably a week from now should be able to tell by then.

Those chips don't do anything except lighten your bank account. They basically fool the ECU that the air coming into the engine is cooler than it actually is thereby using more fuel to compensate, you'll be using more gasoline in the long run.

A little research goes a long way in things such as these. Back when I knew nothing about trucks I googled "throttle body spacer" because I was thinking about getting one and wanted to know the pros and cons of them. I'm glad I did that because they also do nothing except make a great paperweight.
