Today I was told by my insurance company that JDM's are no longer covered for collision and fire/thef etc. Only liability. Has anyone who has recently purchased an Hiace or other JDM in Canada encountered the same issue?

Who is your insurance company? Let's boycott them. AMA insured my Hiace fine in Edmonton last year. Try them.

I was told by my insurance broker that most companies are going that way now, apparently because of the expensive nature of parts!?!? The current company I'm using is Wawanesa. I'll definitely check out AMA. Thanks.

Well I've called AMA for a quote and I got the same story. As of last December, any import 12 years and older can only be covered for liability. How about that!
