I am thinking about towing an old mercedes on a car dolley from near Durango, CO to the Denver area. The Mercedes weighs about 4600lbs and the dolley probably weighs several hundred lbs. That is getting prety close to the 5000lbs! I am concerned because I will be going over Vail Pass and Loveland pass to the Eisenhower tunnel etc. I am wondering if any of you have done anything like this with your Taco. Was your truck safe to drive in the mountains with that much weight behind it? Is this going to tear up my 200K truck?

You might be really pushing it trying to tow with the 4 banger, I'd find another alternative if you can.

It has the V6.

Then why does the information under your username show a 2.7 4x4? That means it's a 4 cylinder.

Sorry. I sold that one. The one I have now is a 1999 V6 4x4. I will change that asap.
