Hi all, I just got me a 1985 Hiace for work. Does any one have any engine information like engine number/type it may have, maybe power rating, it is a 2.0L carburetor model 5 speed manual column shift. Any major issues to look out for. The odometer reads 314000k but i think the engine sounds quite good (no rattels or valve train noise).

It should be 3Y engine.

I guess it's the 3Y-U called there.

Yes it should be the 3Y engine. I'm From Perth and originally had a 86 Hiace with the 2Y engine 1800cc, the 3Y was the 2000cc, and the 4Y engine was 2200cc which was the last engine fitted to the YH series Hiace which finished production in"89 then the RZH series started with the 2RZE motor 2.4 litres. Hope this is some help to you.
