I put my order in for my Prius back in June expecting it to arrive in the August/September time frame. Now they tell me it will be closer to October/November which is kind of annoying. I'm still very excited about the car, especially since gas prices seem to be creeping up again. But it looks like I'm going to have to wait some more.

LS

I ordered mine around June 10 with the order going in around June 17th or so from Elmhurst(IL) Toyota. The dealer told me 3-4 months, even though the web site had stated October-November at the time. I'm still crossing my fingers it'll come earlier, maybe our cars will be on the same boat?

No manual yet either.
John R.

I ordered mine on May 25th from Oakbrook (IL) Toyota. I received the manual about 3 to 4 weeks ago and received a calculator just this Tuesday but no news about delivery of the car. I keep waiting for the phone to ring.

Ruth

I was going to order mine from Oakbrook Toyota but was told they didn't have a model onsite for test driving. That annoyed me. Oakbrook was closer to home but I work by Libertyville Toyota so I went there instead. Took one for a test drive and went back a week or so later and put my order in. That was mid- to late-June. I'm hoping it comes in sometime in September but I'm prepared to wait longer.

LS
Ruth, did you by chance order a silver strata metallic? I ordered mine (2002) may 28 and they said due to the choice of color it would take longer. I received my manual 6 weeks ago but no calculator yet.
Kinau

Kinau, I ordered the dark green color. Guess we'll all have to be more patience but I am getting really really anxious.
Ruth

Ishell, I ordered mine in July and was told delivery ould be in late September or early October. However, if you dig deep enough in Toyota's Prius web site, you'll find they are estimating December-January for the 2002. Somehow, my poking around in that web site also prompted Toyota to send me a message that contained my order number - which the dealer hadn't given me. Their message also contained my dealer's name/address, so I know I hadn't inadvertently created a second order. Guess we just have to hang tight.......!

Did they call you or email you? I also put my order in in June. I received my manual last week, but have heard nothing from Toyota. Just curious. I guess I need to give my dealer a call. Thanks for the info.

Nancy

I suspect that Toyota got lots of orders for 2002 models in June. The person who "got the call" ordered June 1. I ordered June 14, and the dealer got around to entering it on June 19-- but just got the manual today. --Bob

I called the dealer I met with for an update and he said the guy in charge of Prius orders said Oct/Nov. To this date I have not received anything in the mail from Toyota except for possibly a form thank you letter. I'd at least like to get a manual so I can start familiarizing myself with the system.

Sheesh...getting tired of waiting.

LS

Does anyone know if there is a different wait time for the brilliant blue pear model? That's the color I ordered back on June 19. So far no manual, no calculator, no nothing.

LS

I wasn't given any manuals or calculator during my process of ordering. But my prius arrived after 4 months of waiting. Maybe I didn't receive them because I changed my email address during that course of time, and I forgot to notify the dealer about my email change. But then again, they could've sent them to my home.

I ordered my blue Prius on March 6th, and received it on August 7th. I got no info from the dealer on other orders. But he said they were coming in the order they were requested.

pardon if someone answered this already but yes the wait times are longer due to the wider array of FACTORY options. 01 was what color, and CD? MATS? Both done quickly at your respective regional PORTS in the US. '02 presents all of you with more choices (aside from the 2 blues being added) thus more planning & manufacturing time, BUT- one of the biggest differences is that many 01 owners received their cars when an order was canceled or whatever -its pretty easy to ship it to the next owner when the only difference on the cars was the color. That process will undoubtedly be a lot more complicated now. I personally wish that they would simply make the side bags and the DRL's standard and price it accordingly. We can handle the cruise control here at the stores. I think that would serve to simplify.
