Do the new auto dimming mirrors work really well? We didn't get one on our Camry and my husband wishes we had. He wishes we had gotten the model with all the "bells and Whistles" as he puts it.

How does the mirror know when to dim? (Pongo said there were no stupid questions) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

ozzie, we, too, don't have this type of mirror. but from what i have read about it before, the mirror has built-in sensors which detect the glare of headlights. upon detecting the glare, it automatically dims. :)

They work, I bought one off ebay...same company that makes them for GM. It has a photocell mounted in the front, and when light hits it, it dims the mirror a greenish color. Definatly worth the buy.

A friend of mine (who was designated to test buy it) said that it worked well. Of course, I have to see him and check if he's pulling my leg.

I have this feature and I absolutely love it. I'm a blonde and attracted to shiny things so my attention is diverted by the glare of lights!

Seriously, the new halogen headlights create a danger glare and these mirrors are wonderful. Upgrade!

I will never understand how we cant drive with our high beams on, but new cars halogen lights are just as brite and the blue gives me a f'ing headache. They really need to out law those **** lights. You dont need to be able to light a football field to drive. Plus Im in a lower than average car so every headlight is in my eyes to begin with.

Rant done.

I agree completely! When I'm in my little Eclipse and one of those cars is behind me, I can't see the road because of the glare.

Wow, I didnt know this feature existed, but how cool is that? Now I feel like I need it. :) I know I do not like the autodim lights though...is it distracting as such?

I like the idea, but I don't know if I would go to the expense of putting one in my car.
