hi i have a 1990 gt-r 4ws and i am having issues with the autobox. for around ten mins in the morning, the car will not go into 4th gear. It will just stick in 3rd untill i come to a stop and shift to park, then the car will drive like normal. i have recently had the radiator replaced and the engine is running slightly colder then normal. anyone out there have any ideas

annoyingly have tryed that one. do the autoboxes have a safty mode or like the 6th gen do they hold you in 3rd gear until the car warms up( if that is the case its very annoying). also is it just a case of removing the battary to reset the ecu or is there a fuse to remove?. thanks for the quick replies by the way

You've exceeded the extent of my knowledge of auto's :) Pulling the EFI fuse for a minute will reset the the ecu although pulling the battery for a while seems to clear it better.

A gearbox problem perhaps? Probably not that helpful really, sorry gearboxes aren't my area...

I had the manual version but I recall people with the Auto talking of a mystery button with no marking on it. Can't remember where it was sorry, but wasn't that something it do with the auto box?

the ejector seatif its the red one. when the car is in park and the ignition is off you can press it to be able to change the gear without the key in, for towing i guess. ok well i will try letting the car warm up for a bit before driving off tonight and will take the battary off when i get home and clear the ecu. any other easy fixes i could try?

ha ha but its so nice not having to change gear. its a shame i have no other faults with the car (now) even the 4ws works. i suppose on an old car like this you need one or two niggaly faults to keep you on your toes
