Hello all I was a member before . I have what i think is excessive oil use in my 99 avalon used over 1 1/2 qts during 4000 miles of driving can see no leaks could this be pvc egr what gives any suggestions. They would be greatly appreciated. Use mobil 1 oil engine has 87,000 miles I love my car.

it does seem like an excessive amount of oil used up between oil changes
don't know about the PVC valve, any smoke coming from the exhaust at startup or while the engine is running

Did it start using oil all of the sudden, or has it just got more and more.

Just all of the sudden. No somke from pipe. It seemed like it used some before but not so quick.

well....toyota would call this a normal amount, and 1 qt would not be too bad, so it has gotten a little worse. just keep a good eye on it, and keep watching, i'd bet there is a small leak you havent found yet.
