Drives: 1987 toyota tercel wagon 3ac
Location: usa
Hello to all I am new to this sight. I am looking at a 1987 toyota tercel wagon thats broken and available to me pretty cheap. I am doing this to conserve gas since I drive a full size v8 pickup. My problem is the vehicle possibly has a broken drivers side axle on the front.(the wheel is cocked almost out from under it and is almost certainly a broken axle). But heres the question.....what would cause it to break? The person that owns it has replaced the same part twice before.so my thought is something else is wrong that is causing it to break ....she said the length of time it lasts is from 4 to 6 months.. what could cause it to wear out so quick.
Any speedy advice would be helpful so I can decide to buy or not. thanks, Bobby

Drivers' side axles are usually the ones to break first on FWD vehicles. The reason is because the angle amplifies the torque...consequently that side breaks first.
However, breaking every 6 months is unusual. Are you sure it broke twice ? Or was it maybe a ball joint, or tie rod end.
