I've been having problems with my CV axle. I've tried several axles and keep getting noise. The axles themselves seem to be o.k. I just noticed that the flange that attaches the cv axle to the tranny seems to have a lot of play in it.

Does this sound like it could be the problem? If so, should I just replace the whole center drive axle or try to do the bearing or take it to a shop? Haynes manual doesn't make it sound hard to remove the drive axle. Is this true?

Thanks for any suggestions.
