Hi All, new member here,
Got a 2000 Toyota Hiace 2.5 Diesel RWD Auto, when I have the key in the ignition (in OFF and ACC positions) and any one of the doors open, there is the irratating "BEEP BEEP" sound coming from under the dash. As I work out of the van and commonly have the key in the ignition with the radio going, this beep sound drives me crazy. It is the same sounder as the headlight left on, reverse beep, therefore I dont want to disconnect it, but only stop it when a door is open. The van has an alarm so I cant just cut a wire to stop it either!

Thanks for your help!

Hi All,
Well, mission complete, Ive successfully disabled the annoying beep beep sound when the key is in the ignition. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/gunsmilie.gif)

And it was easy. Ive created 3 images with helpful hints on them so anyone with this annoying problem can get it resolved with ease. All you need is a screwdriver (philips), sidecutters, insulating tape or 2 connectors and a multimeter.

There is an even easier method to do this. See the two screws holding the little square box in place - the "Switch" - just take those screws out, and tuck the switch up under the dash somewhere.

All this switch does is remind you that you have left your keys in the ignition so that you don't get out of the car and lock it with the keys inside.

Ah, I saw them but couldn't undo those screws because a part of the dashboard above was in the way, even with a stubby screwdriver, you couldn't get the right angle to undo them. So just chopped the wire instead!!

Thanks
