Hello this my first post on TF so catch me if i mix my self up.

I have a 1985 Toyota SR5 2WD 22R motor just started working on it and going to switch out the tranny for a 5spd it has a 4spd in it now but whats the best option i should look for a 5spd tranny for it ? the only trannys i know of are the w57 and 56.

I am almost having some really bad MPG rate .. i getting about 9MPG ... and can't figure out why .. i have a stock aisan carb that the floats are stuck high on but could that really be the cause of this ? i have replaced the cracked fuel pump and fuel filter and checked for leaks in the lines .. nothing and still getting really bad MPG a little advice would be nice. thank you.

About your gas milage, the stuck floats could definetly be the problem because it would be feeding your engine more fuel than it should be getting.
If your MPG is that low, something is definetly wrong.

Um, I thought 1985 was the first year for EFI. Did someone do an engine swap?

I don't think so .. my uncle bought it and never touched the engine or he parts .. either did his kids ... i got it as is ... kinda beat up and lotomiles (IMG:style_emoticons/default/s10.gif) i am rebuilding it for better standards, but i thought it was to . but this is how he got the vehicle new in 1985. so i not exacly sure myself .. if there were so carb and some EFI .. dunno .. but i know i got a carbed 22R from 1985 :D

85 was the first year for the 22RE, but it was only in 4Runners.

Later on it came in 4WD trucks, even later for 2WDs.
