My new (lightly-used) Highlander got hit with its first bird poop today. I washed it off with water, but I had no idea how long it might have been there, and I think I left a little permanent dull spot. If Toyota's clear coat/paint is thin (I don't know that for a fact), I'm worried about using any kind of polish on it. Maybe just wash and wax the car thoroughly?

Also, has anybody tried a liquid product called Poop-Off? I see it advertised a lot on the Web.

Depending on how long it was on there, there may or may not be any damage.

You can try Meguiar's Deep crystal paint cleaner (part of their 3 step) to see it that would help, but always get the offensive bird bomb off as quickly as possible.

Always try to keep a good layer of either Wax or sealant on the surface, that always helps.

you are so right lifetech your mother raised you right! how about using car wash mixed with some water and keeping some ready mixed in the car with a micro rag (always there to use right away and a plain bottle of water to rinse off.)....I do this, as down here in Florida we are inundated with birdpoop..Delraysupermom

Keep some quick detailer in the car with a microfiber towel handy for these sorts of situations. Try a little polish and then some wax afterwards.
