k il get to it, when i started pulling away from my house one day i hear this rubbing sound, like the e- brake was on or something.the truck is acting like the e-brake is on, but there is no way i can be sure it is. the e-brake light on my tacoma has been on for about a year, but i had no problems with it then, and i blamed it on a bad fuse or the cable was a little too tight. if it is not the ebrake, could it be anything else, and would this trigger the chek engine light? thx much

Is it the check engine light or the brake light? You mention both. If it's the brake light then your brakes may need to be serviced or you may be running low on brake fluid.

sry if i confused you, the emergency brake light has been on for about a year, but i think its just that the cable is a little tight and is triggering it. the check engine light is not on. i just got an oil change and tire rotation, and they said everything checked out, including the brakes. i do not know if they looked at the brake fluid though.

A tight cable will lead to brakes that are rubbing.

The parking brake light switch is connected to the end of the pull bar. How tight the cable is should have nothing to do with the light being on. Someone else is going on. Most jiffy lube places are, well, I don't have kind words for them. They have been know to tell people they need new brakes when in fact, they had new brakes put on last week. Don't trust them.
