Lee_T's got a question. How can I tell if the front brakes are working properly? This my first vehicle to have rear disc brakes and I thought they would be like drum brakes in that the front brakes wear out at least twice for the rear to need replacement. Well I got 47k on our Camry and my back discs are gone and the front are at least half or better yet? Everything feels good, no pulling, etc?

With almost 50k miles on your car, I think there shouldn't be a major problem. The rear is worn out but the front ones are still 50% pretty good. The brake calipers should be still good and I suggest you should check the rear brake rotor to see if they are still smooth or not. Also check the brake pads to see how they look. If they are uneven, etc, you might have to have the rotors turned by local autopart stores, like Murray, Autozone ect. and reinstall on the reversal of removal. You might have to bleed the brake lining of the front and the rear brake caliper to make sure no air leak with an assistant to help you. Hope this help.
