im trying to source some cheap brake discs/pads and have seen the following on ebay ; discs to fit  2.0l gt from 10/89 to 07/95 and GT4 from 03/94 to 10/99 pads to fit 2.0gt 88 to 90.        as i have a 1990 "G" GTR, does anyone know if these will fit mine or should i not bother bidding? failing that, where's my best bet to find them elsewhere?         cheers,   plug:)

Be careful   Japanese safety laws are different from the UK and the brakes on import models tend to be of lower spec than UK models.   My '91 ST183 (4WS Convertible) definitely has different pads than any high street tyre/exhaust/brake place would show on their list for the nearest year and model Celica.  Had to match them at a local motor spares company.   The partlists usually have pictures so if you take a pad they can probably match it.

My 183 needed pads last year and Charlie Browns managed to source front and rear pads no problems. On the last service by Toyota they said discs were warped, they have actually worn unevenly. Just bought a set of uprated grooved discs from Fensport, not much more expensive than the standard ones, and l am reliably informed much better stopping power. Discs are either 255mm or 279mm diameter and 25mm wide. As said larger ones from later models. -- In celica-4ws@yahoogroups.com, Paul

Just tried to fit discs from Fensport, not even close as they have sent the wrong ones ! Got some from local auto shop with 25mm wide discs and they dont fit either. l have some with 22mm wide discs ordered and will try them later this week. If they fit l will post the disc part number. FINGERS CROSSED.....

The discs from my local auto shop are BD764 and fit like a glove. They are 22 mm wide discs which fits in with the Japanese using inferior brakes on their models which we then import. Pads are standard as per celica ST182's. Cost was ?26.00 per disc so not too dear, they were special order as not widely used. The 25mm wide discs were ?23.00 so ?3.00 cheaper for more metal ! ! ! > Just tried to fit discs from Fensport, not even close as they have > sent the wrong ones ! > > Got some from local auto shop with 25mm wide discs and they dont fit > either. > > l have some with 22mm wide discs ordered and will try them later this > week.
