Hi all, I seem to have an issue with the brakes on my 28. Most of the time the master cylinder doesn't seem to be returning when I release my foot off the pedal. The pedal and assumedly the booster components are retracting but the pistons (in the master cylinder) don't seem to be maintaining pressure against the shaft from the booster. The master cylinder and booster are relatively unused (maybe 18months from new before being taken off last car) but did sit for maybe two years before I dug them out of my stash and put them on to my current car. I'm thinking that maybe the cylinder might have some corrosion or something that might be causing the pistons to stick. If anyone has any other thoughts or potential solutions any feedback is welcome. Cheers Glen RA28 (18RG) RA40 (3TGTE) RA40 (18RC)

Although there could potentially be some swelling of the brake lines I would expect that it would more likely just make the brake pedal feel spongy. The feed back I'm getting from the pedal is that there is no resistance for aprox. 1/3 of travel so its floppy the way it would feel if the booster/master cylinder was removed and only the spring under the dash is holding the pedal up to the top. I'm guessing I'm going to have to bite the bullet and pull the master cylinder out and check the bore. Just don't feel like bleeding the brakes and getting in contact with that blasted brake fluid. Cheers and thanks for your thoughts. Glen RA28 (18RG) RA40 (3TGTE) RA40 (18RC)
