I have plans to purchase a new 2002 ES300 for my
parents in the next couple of months (my parents
desperately need a new car but would never get one on their
own). I live on the west coast, they live on the east
coast and I don't have time in the near future to pay
them a visit. Ideally I would like to find a dealer in
New York, choose the vehicle with its options,
negotiate the price and pay for it, and allow my parents to
simply go pick it the car at the dealer and have the
dealer familiarize them with the vehicle before they
drive it away.<br>The problem with doing this, is that
I take the risk of purchasing a vehicle without
actually seeing the actual car or taking it for a test
drive. I assume that with a new Lexus, this shouldnt be
a big concern of mine. I also haven't yet figured
out how to negotiate a decent price on the car, by
doing it from 3000 miles away, rather than haggling
with the dealer in person (not looking for a steal,
just a good price). So to anyone out there who has
ever bought a car for someone this way, I would
appreciate some advice. Thanks
