Hello all. What is the maximum mileage you would suggest buying a supra at, assuming that you want to drive it for a while before you have to perform major repairs/maintenance? Also, is buying a modified car a bad idea? What are the major signs of abuse/neglect? Please help an anxious Supra owner-to-be!<br>Thanks!

Hello Trini. Hard Q to ans.I had same plan as you have.My advice is buy one (turbo)? that has a rebuildable motor. Turbo motors go out early most noticeable loss of oil pressure. bearings wear out then the motor can't be raced, and what good is that? Add this rebuild on to total cost.I'm new at e-mail stuff so this message short. donpeckler@... in california.

Well I bought my 94 Supra TT 3 years ago (39500 mi) and have put over 75000 miles on it since then. I have finally had my first problem with it. This may be because I have done all of the BPU mods. Apexi AVC-R, HKS intake, RMM downpipe, HKS seq. blow off valve, HKS intercooler hard pipes, and turbo timer. First I have a blown head gasket and now one turbo goes out and comes back on its on. Turbo is not blown though. I am going to get the HKS Head gasket and get my head port and polished while the gasket gets replaced. This is the first problem (two actually) I have EVER had with my ride. I contribute this to normal wear and tear. I use regular oil but going to synthetic now and change the oil every 3500 to 5000 miles. It depends on how highly modified the car is. Take it for a test drive and to a mechanic preferably to someone who tunes supras. I personally would rather tune the car myself, thats the fun in it.

Do you pass emissions with your downpipe in place?

Not totally sure-I'v heard non california cars bought from out of state can still pass even though they only have one cat- but I think they have a different smog pass criteria. donpeckler@...

To Mr supra.Someday I hope to join the TT club but now it is just the MKIII. I almost bought one last year but froze up and waited and of course it was sold.I noticed no oil pressure guage-right? When I do buy one I will assume needs rebuild.I know I don, know but I would worry about ruined crankshaft and replacement cost but maybe their cheap.Well, got to get my motor back in my car!

Hello Mr supra, some day I hope to join the ranks of the TT club. But for now it,s just the MKIII. I would always include the price of rebuild if purchased used. I almost bought a TT but froze up and of course it was sold. Do you have oil pressure guage? I thought oil press mattered to preserve the crankshaft,Well it,s back to the garage to insert my bebuild.
