I'm helping a neighbor with his 2000 Toyota Avalon (built in October 1999), we just replaced the engine but now the fuel pump won't come on. I checked and found out that there is no voltage to the pump, I checked the EFI Main relay and found it's working fine but now I'm trying to find the fuel pump relay, the Haynes manual says that it's on the passenger side footwell but I took the glovebox out and the lower kick panel and it doesn't appear to be located here.

Just to eliminate any questions, I did go over all of my connections on the new engine, paying particular attention to the grounds. Three located on the intake manifold, one by the coolant cap which leads over to the right shocktower, and then there are also two on the left side, one connecting to a bracket on the forward head and the other one going to a bellhousing bolt with both of these terminating on the left shocktower.

BTW, I used some starting fluid to start it and the engine fired right up and ran for a couple seconds, it runs very smooth considering there's no fuel, I'd just like to fix this so it will run longer than 3-4 seconds..

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Nobody on this forum knows where the fuse or relay is for the fuel pump?

The fuel pump gets its power from the circuit opening relay which is turned on by the ECM
The circuit opening relay is in the drivers side kick panel.
Email me if you want a pic with the location.
Hope this helps.

Have you tried to hot wire it direct from pump to battery? Try that if it starts then ask a jeep dealer where is the emergency fuel shut off switch is located and make sure it is on not off! I hit a bump on the freeway and mine shut off spent 3 days trying to fix it and that was the problem. These switches are hidden and mine was in the passenger floorboard up next to the firewall inside. However all are in different locations. Call Jeep. Hope this helps you.
