I am leaving my car (ST183 4ws) in 2moro to a car tuning centre to get the ignition timing set because it is 'pinking'. Is there any other worthwhile 'housekeeping' I can do to the engine to make it run/perform better? (resetting valves etc)

Make sure they know to short out Te and E1 on the diagnostics block before they start.
