Happy Halloween everyone. I was wondering if anyone knows what could be causing the cd player in my 2004 4runner to flash "load" for about 10 seconds after inserting a cd. It then spits it back out without playing. I tried burned cd's as well as original cd's with no luck. It does not flash any error code, just "load," almost like it isn't reading the cd's. I don't have a clue what is causing it to do that. Any info would help. Thanks.

HI,

I read your post and wanted to ask yoy how you fixed your issue...I have the exact problem with the exact car. I started not to like Toyota's after a few things broke...I'm thinking to buy new after market CD player w/ navig maybe as I have no warranty anymore...

I look forward to your reply.

Thanks,
AC

Sorry to say I haven't fixed it yet. No one seems to know what the problem is and the dealer would only say that they would replace it with a refurbished CD player for $500.00! My CD player is the single disc. I am thinking of getting the 6 disc factory player to replace it, but I am not sure if it would work with my vehicle. Try asking a Toyota dealer in your area and see if they have any suggestions on what might be the problem. The dealer in my area was no help. Let me know if you come up with anything. I'll keep you updated on any info I get. Thanks.

Have you tried to disconnect the battery?
My email is alessiocesar@yahoo.com. I will keep you posted on my findings. Honestly I'm upset and will NEVER buy a Toyota again. A few months ago my sunroof died on open position. The Toyota dealer felt my pain (22k w/o warranty but still ONLY 22k) and paid the parts ($1600) and I ended up paying the labor ($500). But all this happened because Toyota has hidden this defect (wiring harness) as I found many other users with the same problem…
I will ask my dealer but with NO hopes. I already found 2 possible replacement systems.
JVCKDNX5000 and another one, can’t remember now.

Will keep you posted. Thanks for getting back to me.

The CD player is toast, get an aftermarket one, and fawk the dealer.
You can get one for $100 to $500, and adapters to make it Plug N Play, from Crutchfield.

Went to the dealer today...I did this only for you as I knew their freaking answer...They told me to send it for repair, $80 installation + repair => ~$250....SCREW THEM! I wil get an after market one, especially since the amplifier is in the back, didn't want to loose the nice sound...

AC- sounds like you had as much luck with your dealer as I did with mine. Too bad it is all about money for them and not customer satisfaction. Good luck with your aftermarket player. Ler me know how it works out for you as I will probably be doing the same thing soon. Thanks for replying.
