Hi Shane, Well I've just had the best quote back from my local Toyota dealer (who was very helpful) hes quoted ?191 incl vat which has been the cheapest so far, for original part. Didnt expect to hear back from him as it was an import but he didnt consider it a problem so a result Thanks for your help Ive emailed tcbparts and will wait for a few more replies before I decide. Yes I take your point 4ws not 4wd in my distress and all that!  but thanks will back track over my supplies. Cheers

Thank you John, I'll see what price kwikfit are because at the moment Im not getting anywhere, I've emailed lots of sites so hopefully Monday may get some replies.   Its been suggested to get one made, thats really going to be expensive and I think just for a backbox in stainless steel which suggests to me that in the end i'll have to get the whole bloomin exhaust in steel !!   Anyway will keep searching, thanks again for your advice   Regards   Amanda

When I got a new middle and back section of exhaust from Kwik Fit, they had to send for a proper Toyota rear section from Japan. It was only ?60 more for the proper rear section than it was for their copy part for a UK spec car. It was only about ?260 altogether, so not too bad. definately try fensport.com, they are the best for parts on this car and fairly good prices. I got a stainless stell centre box, thro pipe, and back box, 4 inch straight cut for ?300 including fitting, sounds great now!!!

I searched the whole of Ireland and could not find one!

They are very difficult to come across.

The problem is the ST183 has 4ws and thus the mid to back section of the exhaust needs to go up and over the rear axle.

This is different to all other celica models so you need to find a crashed ST183 for parts.

I had to get a complete custom exhaust, expensive but stainless steel and lifetime guarantee.

I tried the cheap way at first (Qwikfit etc) and it just prolonged the agony!

Thanks for replying Eric, Ive just been advised by my local Toyota dealer (after going under the bonnet of the car and giving him exact model and chassis numbers) he has come back to me and told me he can get this back box gen. Toyota for ?181.00 incl vat, availability 2 days. which Im going to try as it seems a good deal. Thanks for your help

I initially ordered a spurious one from a manual, can’t remember name of the manual, from an exhaust supplier.

It said in the manual it was for an ST183 but when I brought it to Kwikfit to install it they said it still didn’t fit, didn’t go over the rear axle as required because of the 4WS at the rear.

I had to get a refund on the back box.

It seems the manual assumes all ST18* models have the same exhaust so it states it fits all of them.

A Japanese Toyota dealer said he could get the factory part from Toyota in Japan but I had to buy all sections, it would cost €1000 and take 3 months to get shipped.

I’d ring the dealer and see if he is just ordering it from a manual based on the ST183 chassis number.

If so I fear you are journeying the exact same path I did 6 months ago!

Wow! I brought 5 backboxes from the US for about ?40-50 each, took mine to my local powerflow dealer and they cut the old one off just above the rear axle and bent a bit of pipe to suit and welded it all up, including hangers, for about ?50. You can buy something that looks fairly like the standard box on ebay for about ?30 and get it fitted at any decent exhaust monkeys.

I did that with my first attempt to replace my back box but the welds, from KwikFit, only lasted about 8 months…..i only got a 6 month guarantee L

They said that the bends were too great to last any decent amount of time but I reckon they are just cowboys!
