Does anyone else experience this problem with the check engine light keep coming on? I went to the dealer to have it fixed. And for some reason a week later it started back coming on.

You need to have the codes read and figure out what the code says. It could be that they didnt fix the problem or it could be a new problem.

I would be almost anything that its a faulty 02 sensor. Get the codes read first though. But I would put my money on that. Sometimes they read ok and sometimes they dont, when they are on their way out.

Ive had quite a few instances of the "service engine soon" light coming on with my F-150 and its nothing more than whats known as an "erroneous code" (basically a 1-time fluke error somewhere in the system). That could be whats happening here too.
I ended up buying a cheap code reader just for clearing out such codes. That way I dont have to drive down to Autozone to have the code cleared or even worse, have the dealer mechanic charge me to do it.

But if its reoccuring its probably for a reason. I wouldnt gaff it off until you know what it is.

A CEL could mean a whole host of things from something simple as a loose gas cap to something seriously wrong with the engine. Get the code(s) pulled for free from AutoZone and come back here and post them up here and we can maybe help you out better. BTW, what did the $tealer do when you say they had it fixed? Had what fixed? The light or the problem that caused the light? What did they say was the problem?

I'd be curious too.

It's happened to me shortly after a servicing so I've always dutifully gone back to the dealer.
Once it was a computer error and the second time it was something more important that needed actual repair.

A lot of times it is just an electrical problem. If so, they should be able to check it and reset the circuit.

Mine has been known to come on because:
Low Oil
Seatbelt malfunction
corroded battery cable
dying battery
blow fuse to the horn
It was sunny
It was rainy....

It's one of those things that most people WILL get checked NOW as opposed to later. So when it goes off most listen and take the car to the shop. It could be anything!

Try getting to the light and removing it, then see if it comes back on. Ha Ha Ha

Fabulous! If you're light just keeps coming on and it's been checked out and nothing's wrong, then I agree, take the stupid thing out! LOL! It definitely won't annoy you as much. Hehe. If you don't want to do that much work, you can always just put a piece of duct tape over the display... :) Ah, one of the many uses of duct tape.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/s12.gif)

Hey guys and and gals, I hope y'all was being sarcastic about removing the light. It was put there for a reason. Like I stated before, a CEL could mean a whole host of things. The smart thing to do is to figure out what is causing the CEL. Go back to the dealer if you have to and get the CEL code pulled. So what's $40-50? It's cheaper than buying a new engine or car because you drove your car while a serious problem was occurring and you didn't know becuase you disconnected the light, yeah, that's pretty smart. yeah, I don't know about everybody els, but I was being sarcastic... it would probably be too much trouble to disconnect anyway... lol. But seriously, get it checked out and reset it if they don't find anything. :)

So, Angelic, did you ever find out what it was? I'm interested to know if yours was a $1 problem, too?
