I recently was a victim of a catalytic converter theif.Although they didn't succeed in stealing it they damaged the o2 sensor .It was replaced with a aftermarket sensor and the light came back on. Iwas told that only OE sensor would work. Its a 99 4-runner. Any advice would be appreciated.

Yeah, aftermarket O2 sensors are crap. You can try and get OEM ones from one of the following online retailers:

trdparts4u.com
toyotaworld.com

You'll probably need to supply them with your VIN in order for them to get the correct one for your rig, good luck.

you may have to reset the ECM per the FSM ....some require that the negative battery terminal be removed for so many seconds and drive so many miles to reset the ECM....good luck

Is there a way to turn off the check engine light on 96-99 4runners. Once the polution control goes bad the light just stay on. There is no reason to fix the expensive polution control since 4runners dont need it. Please help. http://www.used-4runner.com Mike
