The fan stopped running the day after I bought the car. It seemed to be working just fine. The controls still light up, I have no warning lights. I can't find any fuses that are blown. Heck, I can't find a fuse that is supposed to be on the passenger side near the dash according to my manual, so I can't check that one. Anyone have something I can check before a local mechanic charges me hundreds of dollars to tear apart the dash and fix this thing? And lead to something else because he tore apart the dash.

I saw something here and on MSN that refers to the A/C Amplifier for 1998 and 1999, but not on the 1997. I am assuming they use the same part. I can hear the relay clicking, the buttons light up like they want the temp. to change, the A/C compressor is turning on and the air that has natural circulation due to the car moving is cold. The fan just isn't blowing.

The information that I saw about the A/C amplifier is looking like a nearly $700 repair, I sure would like to avoid that.

One of the posts said theirs went off and comes back on and they have no lights. Mine has lights, went off, doens't come on.

Cheers,
Tim

I did a little checking under the dash. The relay is below the driver side dash is clicking. Also, there is a connector that I can access from the driver side behind the controls. It has 12 volts across the connector that is coming from the relay. I checked it with it disconnected.

A local shop mentioned that I could check the resistor? Not sure where that is.

He also said to check and see if I can get to the heater fan under the passenger side dash.

Anyone have any information that can help?

I will appreciate help you can give.
