Remember the MOT is as good as the tester only.
Jack it up on the NS and get someone to tun the wheel lock to
lock "knocking it" NS and OS a few times on full lock check it over.
Take wheel off and check suspension bushes, wishbones, strut top
mounts etc, steering rack ends.

I think your right; could be the CV joint. It got worse over the
weekend. I can also hear the clunking when going over bumps, small
potholes and when starting to move the car.
