Hi!

The clutch's old surfaces have been too thin to tolerate the massive torque produced by the 2,4-litre diesel engine. So it's about to replace it. I've already search the spare parts and eagerly going to take the challange.

To be sure I now would like to have some more information for this task if anyone have some experience?

Some things what I'm mostly intrested is
1. how you have solved to support the gearboxes while change?
2. is it necessary to deattach the axle going to front differetial?
3. how is the centering best done between axles coming from flywheel/gearbox?

I got a room over the weekend reserved for this job, there's roof and wall but no heating and weather forecast says minus degrees Celsius but I hope to (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) manage.

Thanks already for answers

Hei!

Ideally you need two people to remove the gearbox. Two pairs of hands are better as it is heavy and will drop down once you release the bolts.

You will need to unbolt the drive shaft that goes to the front diff and remove it - mainly because it makes the job so much easier!

The best way to line everything up when you replace the clutch plate is to use a spigot shaft from a wrecked
gearbox. If you ask at the local car wreckers for one they might be able to help.
You insert this into the clutch plate/flywheel before you tighten the bolts on the clutch plate - then remove it once all are tight.
Then it makes refitting of the gearbox so much easier!

Nähdään :)

Ok (IMG:style_emoticons/default/clap.gif)

I got someone to help if needed.

Now I think I use some time to... find that thing you mentioned. (Spigot shaft)
I asked sth already from friends here also and
maybe it's possible to get one just from local car repairer.

Thanks... I'll report happenings.
See you too

P.S. How you use those words?
P.S. ver2 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/offtopic.gif)
You seem to have the big one... 2.8.
I've thought if got some extra money
(I doubt but if so) to get 3.0D imported from Japan
or just attach blower from Transporter. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grin.gif)

Yes, I have the 2.8 litre engine (3L).

Hei = Hello

Nähdään = See you later

Unless of course you are a Finswede in which case it is Hej! and Hejdå :)

Let me know how you get on with your work.

Okej då. :) I got that one, just wondering you knowing these languages?

So it didn't went like I planned. I removed everything to deattach the flywheel cover and engine block.
I supported gearboxes through the removable cover with rope and with lifts.

The machine to lift from up was skid steer one. And the job didn't go on because the opening above the gearbox was too
short for allowing the gearbox glide all way backwards while my lifts below were not enough to glide and support alone. :(

Well anyway I got some training to for the job although I didn't finish. The car had now time for clutch replace in one local car service. They manage it better.

Thanks for helping and it seemed again how tools are important especially when lacking prosessionality.

P.S. Still wondering those words you threw?

Adorable new clutch! :)

That's how it feels. So much better to drive and change gears.
Before the clutch engaged the power on last moments when lifting the clutch pedal
and the engaging was sudden. Now engaging is just smoother.

I got the old plate with me. The grooves were missing from the surfaces and metal parts were rusty.

Sounds like a success! Well done.

I am a Kiwi - from New Zealand (as you can see in my profile) and I am learning Swedish.

I have a couple of friends in your country who have been helping me with some grammar etc but the rest I am
learning on my own.
I had to start learning it because they sent me a movie that only had Swedish dialog and I wanted to know what
was being said. In the process of doing this I created English subtitles for it.

Ok.. so success in the end yeah. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/s12.gif)

So you learn to be a translator or more or less to speak also Swedish.
Så du minns det kan inte vara så svårt (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Well I'm no Swedishspeaking but I can do some and just rare to hear someone learning :)

Good luck for the translating process! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/s12.gif)

I haven't become a translator yet - my Swedish is still very poor, but in helping my friend translate this movie (his English is pretty good but we had to fine-tune a few phrases that he didn't know) I have learnt a lot about the language.

Jag behöver någon som kan lära mig språket :)

But you got one? So if his English isn't excellent there's things to learn for both of you.
Lycka till igen och så vidare! Det är livet och använding om språket som lär.
