1989 toyota pick-up 4x4
The last few days I have had a problem with the cluch comming out way too fast on the release of the clutch pedal.
Then it goes back to normal and the first thing I checked is that I still had fluid in the cluch resivoir. It was full.
Is this the sign of a clutch replacement. I have the paperwork saying a clutch kit was put in 30 thousand KMS ago. So should I try anything first before I order a clutch kit.
How many hour job is it for a machanic to do a clutch job on this Truck So I don't get raked over the coles on this one.
Any help thanks!

"cluch comming out way too fast"

I am not sure what it's doing from your description. However, it does not sound like a bad clutch. I am thinking that the slave or master cylinder is leaking. If the brake fluid in them is not changed now and then, dirt and water builds up and eats the seals. New parts are not bad and it takes about an hour to change and bleed in new fluid.

Now a week later I have changed the slave cylinder and drained all the fluid and replaced it with new dot 3 brake fluid. The problem is still there but it won't happen untill I have been driving for a little bit (10 min.)and
The cluch starts to ingage after only letting off 1 inch from the floor.

Fluid level is perfect and its seems to be ok not leaking.

I had to change both the slave and master cylinders on mine to fix that problem. Turned out the seals had been eaten in both. I tried replacing just the seals, but the housings were too far gone and fix only lasted a month or so. Since I replaced both sides, it's been perfect.

Speaking of clutchs ... i know my master cylinder leaks on the inside of the truck right where the clutch meets the floor board ... but my clutch is a sloppy ****** it goes all the way to the floor board and sometimes don't even try to disengage or engage in gears ... that mean i need a new clutch ? or just need to replace the cylinders "master, slave" ? or possible the whole entire thing ?
