The new LS430 looks great, especially from the
side and the back. About the only thing I don't like
is the front headlights. Other than that, I think it
looks better than the LS400. Has anyone gotten a
brochure on it? I went to the Lexus site and put in a
request for one, but they sent me the 2000 LS400
brochure. I'd drive out to the dealer, but it's a half hour
trip and I'm not driving that far for a brochure I can
delivered to my home for free.

Also, has anyone been
to the Microsoft Carpoint page for the LS430? If you
go down to the bottom, there's a link to see what
customers say about the car. I was surprised by how a
number of people gave it low ratings. They all basically
the same thing, that the Lexus is a dressed up
Toyota, that it's not a real luxury car, that it's
overpriced. One guy even said that Lexus was charging so much
just because of the Lexus name. He then goes on to say
Mercedes is a much better car and that Lexus uses cheap
materials for the dashboard. I don't see how he can accuse
Lexus of charging so much just for their name when
Mercedes has been doing that for over 20 years. I guess
some people will never accept that a Japanese car can
be just as good, and in some ways better, than a
German car. I like BMW and Audi, but I think Mercedes is
way overrated. They're nice cars, but if any company
is guilty of charging a ridiculous amount just for
their name, it's Mercedes, not Lexus.
