the question I have is where can the plastic connectors and contacts be purchased to repair the corroded assemblies that came with my truck. I was having a problem with the tail lights and on investigation I found the winter snow and salt had gotton to the white plastic plug connector and the contacts at the tail light assembly. I hope this connector and contacts can be purchased seperatly. the tail light is in good condition otherwise. it would seem to me this may be a common problem in wet and winter enviroments. I don't really like the idea of cutting ths conection out and splicing wires with crimp connections. Anybody know where to get the stuff to fix this right?

I don't think you can purchase those separately, you'll need to get the whole assembly. Have you tried a local electronics store? No, and I don't mean a Radio Shack! LOL

Nope. Wiring connectors are the Holy Grail to anyone who works on cars. You best bet is to cut some off your buddy's truck, or find one in a salvage yard.

Just hardwire it with solder, shrink tubing & silicone. It's not like it's going to go anywhere. Hardwiring will also prevent future corrosion problems and provide a nice solid connection. But if you're dead set on replacing the connectors, any respectable car audio/alarm place should have those connectors.
