My son has a 2001 Corolla ,"S" with a 5 sp manual transmission. The car has around 95,000 miles on it. There are two hairline crackes in the middle casing section enough to loose fluid out of. The local garage has ordered three transmissions and so far two had similiar cracking on them. The third one was okay.
I'm thinking this is a problem with the manufacturing of the case castings or another issue.
There were metal shavings under the top cover. I haven't taken it apart yet to look at the internals.
Anybody else have problems similiar to this?
Ron
