Hi everyone,
My 1991 Toyota Cressida recently started overheating. It did the same about a year ago and blew a head gasket. Put in a new cylinder head, radiator and gasket set at the time. It was fine for the whole year doing trips up to 120km with no worries. But now you drive it on a 20km trip from cold and it's fine. If you turn it off wait a while then drive again for the return 20km trip, it overheats and the temp is around the 3/4 mark of the gauge and gets dangerously high if you stop at lights but doesn't really come down all that much when you get moving again. When you stop after the drive you can hear the water bubbling into the overflow container. Driving at night is fine just seems to be during the day when it's warm. Checked the water pump and it's fine. New radiator cap. New thermostat. New clutch fan. Had the radiator pressure tested and it holds pressure well. Oil is normal. Belts are firm. The A/C has never really worked as needs re-gassing. No idea what to do. Don't really want to get rid of it as really love the car. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
