Cruise control installation went great! As described by my fellow
Prius owners that it would work just by adding the two switches. I
took a leap of faith even though the local dealer and Toyota rep said
it wouldn?t.

Can anyone with cruise control tell me if my ?resume
function? is
working correctly? Here is my situation:
1) Turn on cruise control, light on dash ?Cruise? comes on.
2) Accelerate to a speed above 30 mph, let?s say 50mph.
3) Push set switch, speed locks in at 50 mph.
4) Cancel with tap on brake or cancel switch (still in cruise mode,
light on dash still on).
5) Here?s the real question/problem. The resume switch will pick up
and accelerate back to 50 mph as long as the speed does not drop
below about 30 mph. Even manually accelerating to 50 mph and engaging
the resume switch, it will not ?Resume?. I have to push the set
switch again to lock in a desired speed. Is this the normal operation
with Toyota cruise controls? Other vehicles I own ?remember? the
selected speed until the main switch (cruise control) is turned off
or the ignition key is turned off. Any response would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks, Joe G.

Joe G-

Most cruise controls don't operate under 30mph anyway. Toyota's system must be deactivating the system at a certain point based on slow speed.

What did it end up costing you for the CC retrofit? (And if you could state the part numbers, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.)

-Michael

Your cruise control is working just fine. Toyota does not incorporate a memory on any of their cars.

Page 106 of the owner's manual says the cruise control forgets the preset if the vehicle speed falls below about 40 km/h (25 mph).

I have an old van whose cruise can remember the preset all the way down to 0 mph as long as you don't turn off the engine. I suspect lawyers had something to do with this new behaviour. It certainly adds to the pain of toll booths.

Robert Snyder
NJ-PIKACHU

This is normal on any Toyota I have owned. Once your speed drops below the minimum settable speed, you have to reset the cruise speed.

Jerry
