2002 Avalon has 79,000 miles. Has had all recommended scheduled maintanence. Crunching sound coming from passenger front wheel. This only happens when the weather is cold. The car can be cold or have been driven several miles. Have taken it to the dealership on 3 seperate occasions. Have replaced the brakes, rotors and struts (all 4). And have had an alignment.

Any thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

My bet would be a wheel bearings. Or CV joint if the Avalon has them.

I have the same problem in my 2000 Avalon. Please post any findings that you uncover.
Thanks!

My 2000 did this or had a scrapping crunching sound but from the drivers side. Took the wheel off and notice the fender well partition had fallen down and would catch the wheel when I turned. Shoved it back up and used a metal screw to secure it and all is well.
Hope this helps. May be a wheel bearing or ball joints also.
