All,
I'm interested in buying a diesel Toyota. Do you know when or if Toyota offered either a diesel truck or Landcruiser in the U.S.?

I know they offered them in other countries, Canada for one.

Thanks in advance.

They might have sold a version of the HiLux in a diesel, but a landcruiser I don't think so

Maybe a Landcruiser from the 1960's. But Toyota has not offered a Diesel anything in the US. Don't know why.

Well, if you're willing to wait a year or two, Toyota has a new diesel Tundra comin out. There's lots of word about it. But if you're going for old, then I'm sure you could find an '87 or older gas pickup and throw a diesel into it. Everything is the same except the trans and ECU of course. It's better then finding some garbage in Canada and having to go through all that paperwork.

My search turned up this: http://inertialabs.com/Diesel-Import-CAN.htm

Clif notes: One can import a diesel LC from our northern brothers but one should expect hassles from the man and bad vibes from the DMV until it is sorted out.

Unless it's for towing, the higher price for diesel fuel does not seem to balance out the better MPH.
