I've been dispelling myths about my Prius over on another message board. There's one guy in particular who keeps referring to hybrids as "little tin deathtraps".

If anyone feels up to joining me, here's the link:

http://pub44.ezboard.com/ftheslammerfrm0.showMessage?topicID=648.topi\ c

Some you'll win over, others aren't worth the time.

I read his posts. He sounds a bit smug. Maybe you should remind him that it is always better to AVOID a collision in the first place. Then ask him what the stopping distance of the Durango is. Keep in mind that the official number is from 60MPH, as speed increases the distance grows quite rapidly. Next ask him how manuverable his TRUCK is performing in an emergency with the rear leaf spring suspension.

I got no problem with SUVs - I own one myself. I need it to tow my boat and unfortunately the newest Hybrid SUV (Escape from Ford) still isn't powerful enough to tow the boat. Big vehicles are fine when you buy them for that purpose (hauling, towing, etc), but to blindly believe that just because you've got a lot of metal around you and are therefore safe is flawed reasoning. Besides, if he really wants a safe/safer SUV he should have bought the Range Rover or the Mercedes.

FYI: I read the guys profile and he hates Fords. I know that type they all have this blind passion to a brand- Chevys are great, Ford Sucks. Fords are great, Chevys suck. Dodges are great, Fords suck....blah blah blah. I wonder if he has the little pissing kid decal on his rear window.

Well...it might be a difficult chore dealing with the fellow who referred to hydrids as "little tin death traps" as his profile states that he "enjoys pissing off the leftists". I think that might be the root of his statement. I guess it's up the leftists to reduce pollution so the right wing-nuts and their children have some air to breathe........

Well I went to read the relevant thread for fun and tried to sign up to post but so far the sign up process is as bad as Yahoo's except with far more spam--I got to spam mails but still no account confirmation. So I'll just post my snide remark in here. :)

The user

Macavity:

Yeah, sorry about that. The pop-up and pop-under ads there are truly annoying. I went through the sign-up process for ezboards in general a long time ago, cuz I'm a member of a different, private political board (which paid to get rid of the ads).

I like your response, tho. ;)

-r
