Hello all!<br><br>First of all, I want to thank you all for the wonderful information and insights posted in the club. I have been trying for months to decide what my next car should be and this club has been very helpful.<br><br>I'm trying to get a feel for how the display screen will hold up after a few years use. I'm concerned about things like screen burn-in after its been used awhile. I don't own a Prius so I'm having a hard time visulizing what is displayed on the screen on a day-to-day basis.<br><br>Any insight or guesses on how the screen will hold up?<br><br>Also, any recommendations for a dealer in the San Jose, CA area?<br><br>Thanks!

After owning our Prius for only 6 days we find that we often turn the screen off. My guess is that there will come a point where we, in the words of one of the frequent posters to this site, "just drive it." Should do wonders for the screen life.

Liquid crystal doesn't suffer from the Cathode Ray Tube type 'burn in' where images are permanently etched into the front of your typical computer type monitor if the same image is displayed for very long times.

Since it is an LCD, not a CRT, I doubt that burn-in is an issue. I'd be more concerned about scratching, and how the touch-panel holds up mechanically through repeated touching and cleaning of fingerprints.<br><br>OTOH, there are lots of these kinds of displays around. Don't some retail stores and maybe ATMs use them? Those apps would get a lot more use than the Prius screen.<br><br>Burns

In Message 4678, theloosethread asked:<br>&lt;snip&gt; how the display screen will hold up after <br>&gt; a few years use. I'm concerned about things <br>&gt; like screen burn-in after its been used awhile.<br>The Multi-display screen is an LCD so it should never "burn-in" like a CRT. How it handles several years of sunlight and summer heat is unknown.<br><br>9500+ miles and still in love,<br>Bill Powell - NJ "HALFGAS"<br>(Prius: Just Drive It!)

Thanks All.<br><br>It didn't occur to me that it was an LCD screen. I was thinking it was a CRT.<br><br>So another reason not to buy one gone.... hmmmm....<br><br>Ok, what about that steering wheel thing. Will turning it back and forth cause it to wear out?

I live in Sacramento but have parents in your area. Ivisited three dealers in the Bay area and finally ordered up here in Sacramento. The Toyota dealer on San Antonio in Mountain View has vehicles available to test drive. Ask for the fleet manager to discuss your order as at least one of the salesman only parrots canned information. (Of course he was new in February when I visited. Neither dealer in San Jose had any interest in the Prius. No brochures told me to come back next week to get info! I did not try Sunnyvale or Santa Clara. Hope this is helpful. Margaret Finney. I am waiting for my notification - maybe early May!
