I currently live in Northern California and work in Silicon Valley. Traffic here
is approaching the horrific mess that L.A. is famous for. Housing can be much
cheaper an hour or so away, but braving the traffic everyday is something I don't know if I wan't to deal with. But with the huge amount of money I can save living farther away, I could easily afford a nice vehicle such as an LS400 or even better yet the new LS430. Here is my question. Does you Lexus truly make your commute more enjoyable, or more realistically, less hectic. I currently drive a 1997 accord. What I notice that wears on me are the seats, the engine noise and vibration (4 cyl), the air quality, the constant lurching of stop and go. I would think in an LS400, with a ride that is ultra quiet, which comfortable seats, Nakamichi sound system, filtered air etc. would make my commute more pleasant. What I am most excited about is their Laser
Cruise Control. But I wonder if it works in stop and go traffic or only for speeds
greater than 30mph. Just to start a discussion, lets all discuss how you Lexus makes driving in bad traffic more enjoyable or less annoying.

It is a pleasure to drive the vernerable Lexus LS 400. It almost makes even the most hectic commute enjoyable. I for one, enjoy driving my LS 400 through the stop and go traffic of the ever developing Gulf Coast area. I believe stop-and-go traffic is where the Lexus shines; this is when you truly get to experience all of the automobile's little amenities. With the windows rolled up, you can truly experience the Premium or Nakamichi sound. The quintessential aural experience. The engine is soundless. Road and Track was right in calling the LS 400, "The Calvin Coolidge of luxury sedans" The heated seats do wonders during those long winter month commutes and the moonroof is quite the boon in the summertime months.

The cabin is a feast for the eyes. I mean, how could you dislike the optical delight that is the interior. Maple and leather soothes both the eyes and back. The leather/wood steering wheel brings indescribable pleasure to the hands. The shift knob and center console is a pleasure to utilize. I have yet to experince a more nicely designed interior. The air filtration system removes the pollutants from outside air and fills the cabin with fresh, replenishing air.

All and all, the LS 400 is a nice automobile to be in during stop and go traffic.
