My wife's 2003 Toyota RAV4 makes a constant driving noise. It sounds like it is coming from the wheels. I can't tell wether it is coming from the front or rear. When it had about 24k miles, we took it to a Toyota dealer and they said it was from the tires. Since the noise was very annoying, we changed the tires. The noise was still there. So we had to change tires again at around 64k miles. That didn't help either.
It has 89k miles on it and the noise is still the same, it hasn't changed. We have taken it to different mechanics and they all say something different. One mechanic said it was the tires. The tires were brand new when he said that. We have done regular maintenance on the vehicle and there is nothing wrong with it. It is still a very good vehicle to drive except for the noise. Has anyone had a problem like this? This does sound like either the front rotors or the rear drums are warped. What do you think?
There is no shaking in the steering wheel nor there is shaking when brakes are applied. However, at slow speed the noise sounds like grinding noise. I am thinking of replacing the front rotors and pads, and rear drums and shoes. I would also like to know what aftermarket manufacturer should I buy these parts from and how much does it cost.
Thanks in advance
