Hi There:

Yes, I have done this half by myself and got scared and ran to a Audio shop to finish the rest, but, got familiar with whole process after looking at what they have done. I got a Audiovox system from rearseatvideo.com. Removed the dome light, installed the flip down and then got confused how to run the wires. Audio shop people took 100$ and finished that work. My part took about 8 hours on looking at what to do, getting some material, etc.

It's too close to look at from back seat even for kids, though.

I got a Odyssey lately and installed the whole system again fully myself this time.

It takes some time as we don't do this every day, but, once we see it or do it, it sounds simple.

I'll try to get some pictures and post them later

RG

For future reference, Clarion now makes a center console that replaces the stock console and can hold a 6.4" monitor. The new console contains the air vents, just like the OEM version.

At www.crutchfield.com, the console/housing unit is only $49.95. The monitor that this unit is designed for (VMA6491) sells for $450 although you can get them cheaper elsewhere on the net.

This would solve your problem of being too close for the backseat...

As for DVD players, it depends on what you want out of the system. For a basic (small) dvd player that the kids (o.k. who am I kidding) can plug earphones into, Blaupunkt makes a mini DVD/CD/MP3 player that could easily be stashed under a seat or anywhere you want (it's only 6 5/8" wide). It retails for $450 but again, you can find it for much cheaper on the net (like EBAY).

I haven't used any of these products, but I have been looking into installing this system. With internet prices, I believe it can be done for between $500 to $750, depending on what kind of pricing you get.

I hope this helps...

http://www.blaupunktusa.com/

Last thing, I have started a new album with some pictures of the items I mentioned earlier. The console option is particularly needed if you have a sunroof...
