I notice from readind old posts onthis forum/club that vibration used to be an issue on older cars but my new 2001 GS 300 with 16 chrome Lexus wheels has it. Is this a balance problem or a dealer problem or possibly both?
The e-shift is not like the one on our other car which shows the gear you are in when you switch to manual ( Acura) My GS always goes to 5 when you switch into manual no matter what speed you are going or even if you are stopped. Is this normal?
Thanks in advance

Peter

Peter, Congratulations on the new GS. I have a '98 but documented the vibration problem and finally fixed it.

You may have this or something else to address...Anyway, my tires were slipping on the chrome 16" rims. I documented this for myself and the dealer with a thin line of nail polish from the edge of the rim to the tire. Sure enough, a few days later the nail polish wasn't lined up. This would obviously throw off the balance in the wheel and cause a vibration.

The biggest movement was in the right rear wheel, but I've heard of people having problems in the front from braking, especially down steep hills.

Anyway, the fix was going to 17" rims and high performance grade tires.

Ron
