I just got a 1990 4ws gtr, I've heard of these sometimes getting trouble with the head gaskets. I've noticed that my car is losing coolant. The radiater cap appears new, and the main fan is set to run constantly. I'm getting the feeling that my new used car is gonna cost me some cash. Right now I'm hoping for a loose clamp on the coolant hoses, but there is no coolant leaking from the car (the level only drops after driving). Does anyone have any suggestions, and does anyone know a site that would carry the part? I live in Barbados west indies and the dealer here is the only one and over priced.

check your compression in each cylinder. it does sound like the head gaskets gone though. any obvious flat spots when accelerating?

check the radiator top tank ( the bit the filler cap screws on to) they are made of plastic and can crack. If the ccompression test is ok take it somewhere dark and look under the bonnet with a torch, it's sometimes easier to see fine steam this way.
