Everywhere I look dont seem to have it. Is there anyway someone can help me to locate the part. If not would there be another ECU that I could replace it with

Looking through this instruction manual for the A'PEXi Rev/Speed meter, there is a diagram of the ECU. Have a look at the scanned picture, can you tell me if this is the wire to cut to derestrict my car, like we were discussing a few weeks ago. (See attached file: ecu1.JPG) Cheers Dave

i don't think thats the one, if you just cut it there would be no pulses to the ecu and the speedo probably won't work.

Al, no pulse means that the ECU wont be tipped of when your doing the magic 115, I think the Speedo uses a seperate send than the one the ECU uses...Go on D cut the bastard real good...

I don't own a celica (so I prolly don't know :p) But most toyotas with digital clusters (note that analogue needles do not always mean analogue clusters) have a gearbox pickup that sends 20 pulses per revolution (of the pickup shaft) to the cluster for the speedo. The cluster then divides this signal by 4 to give 5 pulses per revolution that gets sent to the ECU. Once again on every toyota that I've seen it's sufficient to cut that wire. In some cases the ECU notices a lack of speed sensor signal (you wont be travelling at 3000 rpm for half an hour unless your moving.. will you) and lights up the check engine light giving you a "Speed sensor" error code. The most elegant way to do it is with a switch. Interrupt the speed signal when you actually wanna speed, otherwise feed it to the ECU. That keeps the ECU and you happy. Mos. (Part time wiring dude). Decided last night not to cut any wires, the diagram in the A'PEXi instruction book had 3 plugs on the ECU, when I came to look at mine, all I could find was 2, am I looking at the right ECU. Dave..
