You can try doing a search on google for a store in your area. I would think the shipping from somewhere else may cost quite a bit being that they are so heavy. Also, you may want to look into having the alternator rebuilt if you find that is indeed the problem. Most mechanical places can rebuild your alternator for you for a fraction of the cost of replacing it.
Yes, buying used is always cheaper, and some stores will offer a limited warranty on their rebuilt parts.
