Hello

I have been having a problem with the van every few days where it is really hard to start. What happens is the engine is wound over for a bout a min before it kicks into life.

I checked the shutof soliniod on the pump and is fine and also checked for breaks in the curcuit, all looks good.

I also checked for any sucking air in fuel lines but looks ok. To double sure ill put new hose clamps on each hose to help eliminate the problem.

I had a theroy that maybe somehow the pump was a little dry and there is not much fuel in the injecters cause when it starts after a long starting process one cylinder kicks into life than the rest so that was telling me its a fuel prob somewhere.

The pump has been recoed recently and has been running fine for a couple of weeks and iv only had the prob for a week.

Has anyone eles been down the same road as me with this prob.

All the best Damien

Hi Damien,

I have had an issue with my previous van, and also occasionally with my current van. It's caused by cold weather normally. It causes the fuel tank to contract, and by doing so it sucks the fuel back through the system and out of the injector pump.

When you have this problem again, open the engine bay, and locate the priming knob on the top of the fuel filter. Pump this until the knob feels "tight" then try starting the engine.

If it bursts into life, then that's your problem - it's being drained of fuel.
