I just bought this car. The engine has a surge in it at low speed and low throttle, cruising through a neighborhood type driving. I saw something in this forum that it may be EGR valve or something.

I just did a little looking around on this forum and MSN and I suspect the EGR Lift Sensor. Has anyone done this? Is it something that someone with better than average capabilities can do in the garage in an hour?

Cheers,
Tim

I replaced the whole EGR valve on my car and that stopped the problem. In retrospect, I probably needed to replace the unit at the top of the EGR valve. Also, cleaning the air intake side of the throttle body helped. You can do this with carburetor cleaner.

Thanks for your reply. I have had the entire EGR valve off the car and tried to clean it in a parts cleaner and I did spray it with carb cleaner as well. It seemed like it went away for a while but is back periodically. I am not sure if I will chase this further. I checked with a local parts store and they are not sure which part I need. I will post back if I find a fix.
