i recently bought a 87 non-turbo supra with an auto tranny and LOVE it. its got a lot of miles on it and it had two previous owners so im a little worried about the reliability. i wanna do a swap and wanted more power but don't have too much money to throw down, so i was thinking about a 1jz.... is that going to be a possibility?

if anyone can help tell me what i would need to do to make this work i would greatly appreciate it. i just started learning about these cars and dont know a whole lot. if the 1jz would be too much trouble, what are some other possibilties?

Thanks for the help!

does it still have the factory head gasket? if so 1jz is a definite possibility

if you are looking for more options i would suggest a 1.5jz. i just helped my friend put one in his 89 supra and it is breath taking.

Its only a 2jz bottom with a 1jz head. this helps with the bottom faliure on a 1jz and it also helps increase power and torque so you really get the best of both woulds if thats what you are looking for.

hope this helps
