There is an exhaust leak right near the engine that may be in the flex coupling. It looks like it is where the flex coupling is attached to the rest of the exhaust system. I don't know what it takes to replace or fix something like this. Anyone have this or know if it is an easy fix? Is this something that I am going to get drug over the coals for? Can I weld it myself?

I know, a lot of questions without much detail. This is my first car with a flex coupling in it and I am looking for help.

Cheers,
Tim

I called a local exhaust specialist and had the flex coupling replaced for less than $200. The rest of the system is pretty solid. It seems like a lot to me, but the alternative of having to replace the catalytic converter and paying $700 - $800 doesn't sound as good.

If you are in the Peoria, IL area, Mytee Muffler in Peoria is the place to go.

I had to have mine replaced too. $170.00 In TN But I would change in a hurry because mine burnt up the cat conv within 200 miles of having flex fixed. Said it was inefficent. Hope this helps You. Good luck
