My 83 land cruiser has a taping sound coming from the exhaust system. I think that it is coming from the EGR or some other anti polution device. I was woundering if anyone has had the same problem and could give me some ideas on how to fix it.

Wrenchead, it could be the EGR but from what you describe it sounds like a problem I had, twice. The cobination exhaust/intake manifold gasket is the culprit. The gasket costs less than $5.00 but the labor is 10-12 hours of work.
